Vocalist Rachael Roberts glides her way through an eclectic mixture of
standards against the backdrop of organic, intelligent and atmospheric instrumentation.
Martin Jenkins' piano playing is incredibly versatile and imaginative incoporating
influences such as Bill Evans and Thelonius Monk. His opposite number, guitarist
Murph, aptly compliments the harmonic palette with his mellow blue note
style.
The rhythm section is supportive and playful. Alex Angus, double bass, swings
like Paul Chambers whilst Tim Ponting's drumming punctuates and underpins
the structure of the songs.
Rachael has been compared to the likes of Astrid Gilberto, Billie Holiday
and Norah Jones. With the Chaser Quartet it is evident she has found an
appropriate vessel for her vocal style.
